Operation launched in Nayarit following the kidnapping of two soldiers; child reported missing found

The Nayarit Attorney General’s Office reported that an operation was carried out this Monday in the town of Sayulilla following the kidnapping of two soldiers.

In a statement, authorities denied information circulating on social media indicating that it was an armed confrontation in the area.

According to the state prosecutor’s office, the operation was carried out to execute two arrest warrants against Benito “N” for this kidnapping.

It was also reported that a child with an active missing person report was found alive during the operation and placed in the custody of the appropriate authorities; the victims’ identities are currently unknown.

Authorities added that personnel from the Nayarit Attorney General’s Office, the State Police, and the National Defense Secretariat participated in the operation.

Social media users reported this afternoon that there was a large deployment of security forces in the town located in the municipality of Acaponeta.

According to the reports, official aircraft flew over the area and gunfire was also heard.
