During this Wednesday’s regular public session in the Nayarit State Congress, Representative Ricardo Parra Tiznado presented a bill to reform the Mobility Law regarding the Public Vehicle Registry (REPUVE). The proposal seeks to ensure greater transparency in information on used cars, prevent fraud in purchase and sale transactions, and strengthen citizen safety.
The legislator explained that the reform aims to allow anyone interested in purchasing a vehicle to view its complete history, including accidents, structural damage, flooding, or total loss declarations. This would prevent the so-called “hidden defects” that are often detected after a transaction is closed.
Parra Tiznado explained that, in practice, many vehicles with a history of accidents are returned to circulation without the buyers’ knowledge, which generates legal conflicts and safety risks. To prevent this, the bill proposes that the REPUVE receive information from both the Ministry of Mobility and insurance companies.
If approved, the system will not only allow verification of whether a car is stolen or current on payments, but also determine its actual physical condition before a purchase. The proposal was referred to legislative committees for analysis and decision.
