Only three repatriates have decided to stay and start their own businesses in Nayarit.

Only three people who have been deported by the US government and repatriated to Nayarit have requested assistance to stay in the state and start a business with the help of social programs. That’s a very small number, acknowledged Rubicela Nava, Secretary of Labor and Labor Justice for the state government.

“Through the repatriation program, we’re talking about three people with businesses, productive projects, and jobs. We have two. The reality is that very few have arrived. It’s true, the numbers are high, but they stay at the border. We have around seven or eight people registered, and what happens? When they arrive at the border, they provide numbers and email addresses, and send them to us through the federal secretariat. We contact them, but people don’t always respond or perhaps are distrustful.” – Rubicela Nava, Secretary of Labor and Labor Justice for the state government of Nayarit.

He also asks Nayarit residents living abroad, following raids carried out last week to detect migrants in the United States so they can be deported to their country of origin, not to be afraid of returning to Nayarit, noting that there are also jobs here where they can find work, as he notes that many of those detained remain at the border to attempt to cross into the United States again.

“The plan for repatriated migrants working in Nayarit, where we use the options we have, first of all, what we seek is for people to see Nayarit as a state to which they can return and find opportunities. Unfortunately, many of the people who are repatriated remain at the border, and they do so because they have their families there and they go looking for a way to return. They still have hope. We ask you to help us spread the word that there is support for them so that if they want to get a job or find a vacancy, there is financial support for them to do so, or if they want to start a business, they can do so.” – Rubicela Nava, Secretary of Labor and Labor Justice in the Nayarit state government.
