“Nayarit’s beaches are in optimal conditions for bathers, but caution is recommended when entering the sea. It is important to avoid high waves and offshore currents to avoid possible family misfortunes,” said Héctor Pedro Núñez Bueno, general director of Citizen Protection and Firefighters of the state of Nayarit, in an interview.
In addition, the state official warned about the presence of crocodiles on some beaches in the state, which represents a significant risk for people who are in the water.
He explained that reptiles are more dangerous in the water than in the sand, as he indicated that crocodiles on the sand move slowly and clumsily.
Given this situation, the population and tourists, both national and international, are urged to report any sighting of crocodiles on the beaches of the state and immediately report them to the phone number 911.
Núñez Bueno specified that if the presence of a crocodile is detected on the beaches of Nayarit, the entry of bathers into the sea will be suspended for safety reasons.
