During the “Boosting Tepic-Riviera Nayarit International Airport” meeting, AME Director General Francisco Javier García Bejos reported that the airport currently operates six routes.

A 44 percent increase in passenger numbers between January and May 2026 positioned Tepic-Riviera Nayarit International Airport among the country’s most dynamic airport projects and bolstered expectations of reaching one million users within the next two years.

During the “Boosting Tepic-Riviera Nayarit International Airport” meeting, AME Director General Francisco Javier García Bejos reported that the airport currently operates six routes—three domestic and three international—with flights to Mexico City, Los Angeles, Houston, and Calgary, in addition to offering connections to the state’s main tourist destinations.

The project includes expanding the runway by up to 40 percent, constructing over 60,000 square meters of apron space and a 43-meter control tower, as well as building a new terminal exceeding 23,000 square meters, which is currently in its final stage.

Upon completion of these works, passenger capacity is projected to rise from fewer than 300,000 to over four million annually, enabling the airport to meet anticipated growth in air traffic and expand flight options.

Meanwhile, Carlos Manuel Merino Campos, Director General of Airports and Auxiliary Services (ASA), stated that the terminal served more than 91,000 passengers between January and April of this year, marking an increase in both domestic and international operations.

This infrastructure is part of Grupo PRODI’s investment strategy in Nayarit; since 2016, the corporation has allocated over 25 billion pesos to airport, tourism, hotel, and mobility projects, aiming to establish Tepic-Riviera Nayarit International Airport as a primary gateway to the Mexican Pacific.
