Mazatlán, Sinaloa – Six young people from Nayarit who had been reported missing while traveling to Mazatlán were found alive by federal and state authorities during a security operation in southern Sinaloa.

The discovery occurred during preventative actions carried out by members of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) as part of Operation Mazatlán, in coordination with federal and state forces.

How were the six missing young people located?

According to official information, security personnel set up a preventative checkpoint on Federal Highway 15, at kilometer 261+800.

At that location, a white Chrysler Voyager minivan was spotted, matching the description of the vehicle in which the six young people had been traveling and with whom contact had been lost hours earlier.

After signaling the vehicle to stop, officers confirmed that the occupants were the individuals reported missing.

Young men report being kidnapped in Rosario
After being identified, the young men told authorities they had been kidnapped while traveling through the community of Tablón Viejo, in the municipality of Rosario, in southern Sinaloa.

Authorities verified the identities of the six men and confirmed they were alive.

After assessing their well-being, the young men were escorted by SSPC (Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection) personnel to the city of Mazatlán, where they were placed in the custody of the appropriate authorities for further investigation.

Federal and state forces participated
The operation involved personnel from the SSPC, the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the Mexican Navy, the Attorney General’s Office, the Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office, and the State Preventive Police.

The agencies emphasized that the operation is part of the surveillance strategies implemented to strengthen security on the state’s highways and in its municipalities.

Finally, the authorities urged citizens to use 911 to report emergencies and 089 to make anonymous tips that contribute to crime prevention and the timely location of missing persons.
