Nayarit ranks fifth nationwide in terms of security, according to the National Survey on Victimization and Perception of Public Security (ENVIPE).
This was stated by the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Manasés Langarica Verdín, who said that the results, which are being thoroughly analyzed, were published this past Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
In recent months, he acknowledged that there has been an increase in crime; however, he clarified that they continue to work closely with federal and municipal governments on this matter to strengthen security.
The official clarified that this survey is different from the National Survey of Urban Public Security in Mexico (ENSU), given that the latter is regional and regularly ranks the state in third place.
Being among the safest states in the country, he said, is a great achievement, since he noted that Nayarit has neighbors with serious security problems, yet peace has been maintained.
During Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero’s four years in office, he affirmed that investments have been made in the purchase of vehicles, weapons, and technology, and even police salaries have been improved, which represents a major step forward.
