A wall intended as a viewing platform was torn down by Bahía de Banderas city council personnel. It had been built in the federal maritime-terrestrial zone of the magical town of Sayulita.
Mayor Héctor Santana, who led the action, stated: “In this government, we do not lend ourselves to the privileges of a few!”
Today we tore down the wall that prevented free access to the beach in Sayulita, because the beaches of Bahía de Banderas are for everyone, not for a few.
Every day we will defend public spaces with actions. The sea has no owner, and as long as this government remains in charge, neither walls, nor fences, nor private interests will take away what belongs to the people.
“As a team, the federal, state, and municipal governments will take care of our coasts and ensure that what belongs to the people is respected.”
The project had been shut down by municipal, state, and federal environmental authorities until an order was obtained to demolish it, an action applauded by dozens of citizens present, as it had been a social demand in recent weeks.
