Attending the official opening of the Mío Riviera Nayarit hotel, the governor of that state, Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, assured that the investments are safe in the state since they work in coordination with the City Council of Bahía de Banderas and the federal forces so that “there are no conflicts in the tourist or urban areas,” thus guaranteeing, he said, “institutional peace for the benefit of the inhabitants and the thousands of tourists who come every year.”
Questioned at the end of the tourist event about the coordination of the State Police with the Municipal Police of Bahía de Banderas, Navarro Quintero declared that it is exemplary, “the state government supports this municipality in coordination with the National Guard, the Navy and the Mexican Army.”
Regarding the reinforcement of security in Bahía de Banderas, he explained that what he called “cooperation” has been carried out particularly at the state borders “so that conflict does not come to the state and confrontation areas do not come to the urban areas; The approach is balanced to have institutional peace in Nayarit and we do not lend ourselves to any situation that puts citizens at risk.”
When elaborating on the security strategy given the conflict zones on the border with Sinaloa, the governor stated that a lot of work has been done in the State Police “where people do not join because of unemployment but because of vocation; secondly, training and then certification, we have 92 percent of certified police officers; in terms of numbers we had 700 state police officers and today we have 1,600 elements, which places us among the three states with the most police officers per thousand inhabitants, all with the advice of the police intelligence areas.”
Regarding equipment, he highlighted that the State Police has been provided with mobile units, both for tourist and urban areas, “they have four-wheel drive trucks, motorcycles and other vehicles.”
In addition, he said, there is coordination with the Ministry of Mobility to resolve state situations and agreements with municipal police to have greater strengths, “we also have the Police Training Institute in force, which will be the Police Training University with its own resources to maintain professionalism.”
He also added that salaries have increased by more than 40 percent, we are third in the nation in having the highest salaries for police officers, from 10 thousand pesos that they received today they receive almost 15 thousand pesos and have a life insurance of one million pesos and housing support for families.
In this context, the Nayarit governor thanked the investors of the Mío Riviera Nayarit hotel for their confidence in investing in Nayarit soil, fully trusting in the strengths of this region.
